Berea College
Grey Auditorium
Berea, KY Simplicity was key in designing and installing the sound system in Grey Auditorium, Berea College's newly renovated recital hall. Given the rooms naturally good acoustics, minimal reinforcement was necessary. The two EAW MK8196 speakers provide ample volume and excellent clarity in a small unobtrusive package. Taking into consideration that most of the reinforcement needs would be for vocal amplification during lectures and concerts, a simple rackmount mixer was installed.
Since the natural acoustics in the room provide such a pleasing listening experience, the college decided to equip the room with both audio and video recording equipment to capture the performances that would be held in the auditorium. By splitting the audio lines coming in from the stage and installing a seperate stereo recording microphone in the room, the students recording the performances have the ability to capture an appropriate mix of the individual sources and the room's natural reverberance. Students can monitor the sound being recorded via two DAS Monitor 6 studio monitors. These were chosen for their accuracy and relatively small foorprint.

| On the video side, three Sony EVI series remote cameras were installed. These allow one person to easily operate the cameras and mix and record the live video feeds at the same time. The live video mix is sent to a DVD recorder for easy recording, duplicating and archiving. |
