Child Development Laboratory
Berea, KY In designing the child development laboratory at Berea College it was necessary to find a way to unobtrusively observe children in their classrooms. To accomodate this need, special observation decks on the second level of the building were built so students and faculty could observe these classrooms.
Each observation deck has a small, self contained sound system that incorporates an array of hanging microphones, a microphone mixer, amplifier, and speaker. To keep the level of complexity to a minimum, a map of the room, which shows the location of each microphone within the room, is mounted on each rack. This allows the operator to listen in on certain areas of the room.
